Attaching Payer Service Codes to Payer Activities

Modified on Fri, 19 May, 2023 at 12:50 PM

In order to connect your service codes to the appointment types you’ve created, you will need to assign those codes in the Payer activities section. Please follow the instructions below in order to fill out that section.

  1. Go to Manage Payer, and select the edit button for your payer.

  1. Select the Payer Service Codes tab and then the Add Service Code button to add your service codes. Please be aware that you will need to have added the codes under Masters > Service Codes prior to this step.

  1. Fill out the Add Service Code popup with the information regarding the service code you will be using.

* Please make sure that your contracted/allowed or agreed upon rate is filled out in this section.

  1. Once the service code is saved, you can then click the Payer Activity tab to connect the service code you added to an appointment type that you have created. You can then select the Add Activity button.

  1. Select the Activity Name menu and choose the appointment type that you would like to attach to a service code. Appointment types that appear in red do not have a service code attached to them, the ones that appear in green are already attached to a service code.

  1. Once you select the Appointment type from the list, select the add service code button and choose the service code you would like to use.

  1. On the Add Service Code screen, you can specify the payer specific rate per unit, along with any payer specific modifiers that you will be using. After finishing this section, please click the save button and your service code will be ready for use with this payer.

* For organizations that are using a fee schedule and bill at a higher rate than what is agreed upon with the payer, please make sure to include your fee schedule rate in this area.
